Same old problems that every developer face is lack of traffics. You know, some of the popular website’s developers work like crazy just to increase their traffics. Well I do, I’m very happy to those 100 more unique visitors visiting my website some time ago. But I never satisfied, I want more. I studied most of the ways. I researched deeply inside the internet just to find the perfect ways to increase the traffic. I even spend a lot of money for this. Well it did help. Along the way I documented my research. Let me revealed to you what I found on how to increase your traffic so you won’t have to waste your time and money.

The contents is the key

This is the truth, believe me. If you want your visitor to keep coming back to your website, write very good articles in it. With good content, you can increase your subscribers. That is one good source of traffics. Maybe you got ideas but don’t know how to write, there’s a lot of freelance writer out there ready to work with you. Pay them and they will happily write those articles for you. These guys can be found in www.elance.com for instance. Tips in writing your article: don’t go and write about everything, stick to one keyword and start writing about the things around that keyword. Then your rank in search engine will increase easily.

The SEO is also important

You got a website with great contents then you have to attract potential readers to it. The basic way is by search engine. Heard the phrase “If you have problem, ask Google”? Yes lots of web surfers did the same thing, they start asking for help through google. So every time people got problem which related to your website’s contents, that is fantastic opportunity for you to gain traffics.

I know not all people are well knowledge with website’s code and everything, so why bother wasting your time learning HTML stuff. Use wordpress, wordpress is the best CMS I used and also the easiest one. Plus it’s also SEO friendly with basic configuration. There’s also a lot of wordpress plugins for SEO. Tweeter is a plus

Ahh the popular web 2.0 style. Who don’t have twitter account? Register now, you never know what you missed if you don’t have one. But please, don’t spam your links here. This might downgrade the twitter. Instead share your article link here. After you registered, add some friends. The more the merrier. Then go install TweetMeme plugin for your wordpress. This is one effective way to generate traffics. It’s like a chain letter if you asked me. Your article will spread by itself, only if your article is good. Your twitter’s friends will help you share it to their twitter’s friends.

Take advantage of your RSS feed

Aha, If your website is done by wordpress, you will automatically have a rss feed. Probably www.yourdomainname.com/feed/. It will be a slightly better if you had a feedburner account. Then you will get a better RSS Feed, readable by most of your visitor. I know you must be tired because it’s hard as hell if to get even a single subscriber. I faced that situation before. Let your subscribe button visible in all your web pages, it will work someday. But for now, get up your asses and start sending your RSS Feed to these directories.

Submit your blogs to blog directories

There’re a lot of blog directories out there, and these directories have their own readers. So by submitting your blog to them might direct those readers to your website. I found a website that have a big list of blog directories in it, and I’m thankful to the owner of the website for such a great job. Market your articles, not your website

If you open a shop, people want to know about your products, not your shop. Of course if your shop name is nike, adidas or other popular names, it’s forgiven to market your shop. Same to website, your articles is your products. So advertise your articles, not your website. Every time you write an articles, ping it, tweet it and post it to the related websites.

There’s no easy way to generate traffic, all you need to do is put on a little effort and you are on your way to be known. Wordpress 2.8 Finally Released

Wordpress 2.8 is really amazing especially the widget part, now I think no other cms can beat it. The new features are great and really really helpful. some of the features I like the most is

Theme installer:- This is really easy than the previous version, all you have to do is zip you theme folder in you computer and upload it using the wordpress theme installer. Then wordpress will automatically un-zip it in your server and you can brows your theme in the theme library. No more CPanel involve, how easy is that?

The new widget setting:- If you have experience using blogger widget, now wordpress can do the same. Wordpress widget is now drag and drop enabled. No more refresh page everytime you want to change sidebar to add widget. Just drag and drop, how simple is that? Even kids can do it right?

The new theme editor:- Well I often prefer CPanel editor to edit my theme codes but now, say goodbye to cpanel file editor because now wordpress have code highlighthing too. I’m most impress with this feature. How cool is that?

Customisable admin dashboard:- Now you have the ability to change the dashbord, show only what you need, display how many column you want. If you really an extreme blogger, you must like this don’t ya?

I almost think that I don’t need CPanel anymore. hehehe But that is impossible. That’s the only thing I highlights but there are more cool features you can experience yourself.

One more thing is my theme is now wordpress 2.8 compatible. I can freely customize it anyway I wan’t.

My personal opinion, no other cms can challenge wordpress now, the SEO is way better than the rest plus easy to update, not techie stuffs, a lot of themes and a lot of supports. You said wordpress is for blog, well believe it or not, there are a lot of companies website that use wordpress as cms. Even in my portfolio have one, and there will be more soon.
