This is the truth, believe me. If you want your visitor to keep coming back to your website, write very good articles in it. With good content, you can increase your subscribers. That is one good source of traffics. Maybe you got ideas but don’t know how to write, there’s a lot of freelance writer out there ready to work with you. Pay them and they will happily write those articles for you. These guys can be found in www.elance.com for instance.  Tips in writing your article: don’t go and write about everything, stick to one keyword and start writing about the things around that keyword. Then your rank in search engine will increase easily.

The SEO is also important

You got a website with great contents then you have to attract potential readers to it. The basic way is by search engine. Heard the phrase “If you have problem, ask Google”? Yes lots of web surfers did the same thing, they start asking for help through google. So every time people got problem which related to your website’s contents, that is fantastic opportunity for you to gain traffics.

I know not all people are well knowledge with website’s code and everything, so why bother wasting your time learning HTML stuff. Use wordpress, wordpress is the best CMS I used and also the easiest one. Plus it’s also SEO friendly with basic configuration. There’s also a lot of wordpress plugins for SEO. Tweeter is a plus

Ahh the popular web 2.0 style. Who don’t have twitter account? Register now, you never know what you missed if you don’t have one. But please, don’t spam your links here. This might downgrade the twitter. Instead share your article link here. After you registered, add some friends. The more the merrier. Then go install TweetMeme plugin for your wordpress. This is one effective way to generate traffics. It’s like a chain letter if you asked me. Your article will spread by itself, only if your article is good. Your twitter’s friends will help you share it to their twitter’s friends.

Take advantage of your RSS feed

Aha, If your website is done by wordpress, you will automatically have a rss feed. Probably www.yourdomainname.com/feed/. It will be a slightly better if you had a feedburner account. Then you will get a better RSS Feed, readable by most of your visitor. I know you must be tired because it’s hard as hell if to get even a single subscriber. I faced that situation before. Let your subscribe button visible in all your web pages, it will work someday. But for now, get up your asses and start sending your RSS Feed to these directories.

There’re a lot of blog directories out there, and these directories have their own readers. So by submitting your blog to them might direct those readers to your website. My favorite tools out of everything in photoshop and illustrator. Pretty useful in digital drawing and can achieve great result if you mastered it. Beginners might not know that this tool can also be use to make a selection in photoshop. Creating a selection using pen tool is one of the most accurate way.

First open path window and create new path. Use the pen tool to draw your path. You can draw a straight path from the point you plotted. To make curve selection, just click and drag it. After finish drawing your selection, right click the path and choose make selection. Zoom in your canvas to make a better selection, the more you zoom in, more accurate it will get.

Magic wand

Magic wand is the most popular tool for beginners. It’s also the easiest way to make a selection in photoshop. Just choose what you want to select and click it with magic want. It will automatically make the selection for you. Actually, I hate magic wand. Why? When you make a selection on a real picture, the selection will become bad. Even if the selection is almost like what you want it, the selection will not be smooth. I only use it if I’m really lazy.

There are 3 lasso tools that are freehand lasso, polygonal lasso and magnetic lasso. The freehand lasso and polygonal lasso can be categorized as one because when you use either one, you can always change it while holding alt key. This helps you make selection easily.

The magnetic lasso is different than others two. It is a great way of making selections around complicated shapes. It will automatically detect the edges around the shape and place anchor along the edge. Increase the frequency value if you want to select a really complicated shape. By doing so, the anchors are placed closely together.

If you use one of the three lasso tools to make a selection and don’t like the way it’s going, just press esc on your keyboard to it and start all over again.

You should remember when you start making a selection using lasso tools, in order to close your selection, click back on the point you started from.

Is not only to make a single selection using the predefined shape, you can also combine multiple selections in many different ways. You can add shapes, subtract shapes or intersect shapes. You can do this by choosing the options on the top toolbar.

For me, wordpress is the most easily customizable cms I ever see. There’s always something new about it, there’s hidden functionality that we never discovered. What I think, we just used 50% out of wordpress and another 50% we need to figure it out.

Some of you just end up using plugin when you can just put a line of code in your theme and it did the same thing as the plugin. It’s just waste of memory and slowing your website. I’m not a fan of plugin anyway.

Here I list some of the hidden features I discovered that can enhance your theme.

Preview your theme before activate

Some of the themes you installed, you can’t preview it. If you hit the preview link, it just shows a blank page. It’s not mean the theme is broken but it’s just the theme folder name problem. If you can’t preview your theme, just rename the theme folder name, remove all the spaces and dashes or change it into underscore ( _ ). Now you can preview your theme.

Next, login to your wp-admin. Then go to settings => permalinks

Change your common setting to Custom Structure and put

In the box.
This is the beauty of wordpress because it will change your url into SEO friendly url.

IE old logo

A lot of web developers still finding the best way to build a cross browser website. Especially showing it on ie6 browser, your beautiful looking website in Mozilla can become ugly and hideous website. I’m not discouraging you guys but this is the truth. Staying out late at night designing your website will be such a waste if not be able to show it to all the internet user right? So why having a website that looks better in ie’s browser is also important? The main question is:

Why? Why? Why? There’re still internet users using ie browser and even worst they still using ie6 browser to surf. Are they holding the spirit of old school or something?

When you buy a pc or laptop that have windows operating system, it’s bundled with ie browser. If you have windows xp, I’m sure you will get ie6 browser. In the office, for sure you get ie6 for old pc. Either you’re too lazy to install new browser or your company block any installation to the pc.

Whatever the reason is, here I list some of the css hack for ie that I know.

Most of people must have used this code. First you create a css file that looked best in Mozilla then create a substitute css file that make it look almost the same for ie.

Way to use it:

Same goes to ie7 and ie8 just change the number 6.

The inline css hack for ie

Not the inline css in your website code but in the css file itself.

Way to use it: In style.css file

Why I put _margin-left? The reason is only ie browser will read that such code and other browsers will just ignore it.

iepngfix.htc

This is the most popular hack for ie to display png image with transparent background.

Way to use it:

It did the job but you can’t use it for id or class with position relative or absolute because it will display an error message that element can’t be click. Another problem is when you use it on image that use <img src=”image.jpg />, on ie browser it will display a transparent box around it and have red x like the error when the picture is not displayed.

DD_belatedPNG?

This is also a .png transparent image hack for ie browser.

Way to use it:

Internet Marketing Seminar day 2

So much excited things happened yesterday because the speakers on this day are really fantastic. This second day, the topics I can recalled is about how easy to make a website, generate traffics and how important is tweeter for online marketing.

Adam Ginsberg (The eBay Guy)

Here I line up the speakers for the second day:

1. Andy Hun – He teaching about how to create a website steps by steps from registering a domain name until uploading the file into the server. I’m actually surprised that he can turn the complicated process into a really simple that even 5years old kids can do it.
2. Patric Chan – This guy is really a guru, his speech about internet marketing inspired me more. He also conducts another workshop that focus more on generating income and everyone running like crazy when he opens it for registration.
3. Adam Ginsberg (The eBay guy) – Well I’m not interested in selling stuff on EBay, but this guy change my mind a little bit, especially when he talked about his mother nagging him to sell his stuff on eBay. Well probably his mother coaches him to sell stuff on EBay that make him one of the successful guys in selling stuff on eBay. By the way, he already sold about $20 millions plus on eBay and still counting.
4. Ewin Chia (World’s #1 Super Affiliate) – He continue his speech by telling the audience how easy to make a website. 2 main skills he highlights to become a successful internet marketer that is filling up forms and copy and paste. He proves it by selling his package that can really generate a website by applying these 2 skills in less than 5 minutes.
5. Shawn Stenning (Geekversity) – The last speaker and the most interesting speeches out of all. He doesn’t even use slides for his presentation. What he did is show how he did a website from scratch and start generating money out of it live in 30 minutes. While giving his speeches, the website already generates $50+.

Internet Marketing Seminar day 3

I’m not attending it full day today as today is my father’s birthday and also father’s day, I already have plan to celebrate it with the rest of my family. Even for half day, still I find it interesting. I learned about making a viral list of contact that can make money by emails.

Alok jain (The Viral List Builder) – His method is cool that is building a list of subscriber that can generate passive income by sending an emails. How cool is that? Viral list is like a chain of connection between the scribers to others. He just finds 400 subscribers and these subscribers will do the job for him by finding more subscribers for him. Then whenever he needs money, he just sending emails.

As a conclusion, this seminar teaches me a lot and opened my eyes about how easy to generate income with the internet. Most of the things I already know but never implemented it for making money. I’m really thankful to my boss for giving me such opportunity to attend this seminar.

His methods are simple that I even never think of it would generate income for me but it did for him. I like his 5 minutes website technique the most. He even selling his own internet marketing package but even more expensive.

Well these guy’s speeches is really inspiring for me. They are not programmers, but they did a very good job in the internet. To avoid detection by antivirus software, authors of HTML malware use browser features like Java and VisualBasic Script. These scripts are small and very often quite simple encryption routines hiding the malicious parts of the script. Encrypted malware is detected as HTML/Crypted.Gen.

One of our customer’s websites suffered from this virus, the effect to their website is:

• Their visitor antivirus blocks their website.
• Google marked their website as a harm website.
• Antivirus also blocked their CPanel
• Even if you backup your database, it’s detected as virus (only by avira)
• To be exact, your website is malfunction

We’ve deal with the web hosting company and they said it’s linux based server, the virus will not harm the server. They said, this virus embedded an iframe to the website files and only triggered when peoples view the website. So they help us overwrite the entire website with the previous backup files.

We thought it’s over, but suddenly the next day, the same customer call again said the same thing happen. So we did the same thing again, but it’s still not clean. So that time I wondered, if it’s just affected the files all php and html, why my avira detected the backup sql also as virus and delete it. And only Avira anti virus can detect it. So this time I ignore the avira warning and open the sql file.

The first time I saw, it’s just normal sql syntax nothing unusual.  No additional table, no iframe script detected. Then I saw something weird.

The picture show you the sql statement inserting data into table news, sure you don’t find anything wrong in the picture, but if you look closely you can find that from id 7-12 it use single insert statement but id 13 it use different insert statement. I then delete the id 13 row and run the website. Everything fine now, the website is now virus free.

But wait! The id 13 news is actually real news, only that it is embedded with the virus code. To add this news back to the server, just simply add it manually using the phpmyadmin insert data function or use your CMS.

How these viruses get attached into the database?

Easy actually, it’s accidentally inserted when you use your CMS. CMS nowadays have TinyMCE or others javascript editor, when you copy any statement or even a word from infected MSWords document and paste it into the editor, it will automatically change the data into html codes and that is how it got attached.

So guys, beware when you copy and paste your files, scared it already got infected.

• Theme installer:- This is really easy than the previous version, all you have to do is zip you theme folder in you computer and upload it using the wordpress theme installer. Then wordpress will automatically un-zip it in your server and you can brows your theme in the theme library. No more CPanel involve, how easy is that?

• The new widget setting:- If you have experience using blogger widget, now wordpress can do the same. Wordpress widget is now drag and drop enabled. No more refresh page everytime you want to change sidebar to add widget. Just drag and drop, how simple is that? Even kids can do it right?

• The new theme editor:- Well I often prefer CPanel editor to edit my theme codes but now, say goodbye to cpanel file editor because now wordpress have code highlighthing too. I’m most impress with this feature. How cool is that?

• Customisable admin dashboard:- Now you have the ability to change the dashbord, show only what you need, display how many column you want. If you really an extreme blogger, you must like this don’t ya?

I almost think that I don’t need CPanel anymore. hehehe But that is impossible. That’s the only thing I highlights but there are more cool features you can experience yourself.

One more thing is my theme is now  wordpress 2.8 compatible. I can freely customize it anyway I wan’t.

My personal opinion, no other cms can challenge wordpress now, the SEO is way better than the rest plus easy  to update, not techie stuffs, a lot of themes and a lot of supports. You said wordpress is for blog, well believe it or not, there are a lot of companies website that use wordpress as cms. Even in my portfolio have one, and there will be more soon.
